Gavin Plumley

Gavin Plumley is a writer, broadcaster and lecturer specialising in the art and culture of Central Europe, particularly during the final years of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He studied at Keble College, Oxford, worked initially at the Royal Opera House and then as a literary and theatrical agent. Since 2011 he has been a freelance cultural commentator. As well as writing for various newspapers, magazines and journals, Gavin has lectured about Central Europe at the National Gallery, the British Museum, the Neue Galerie New York, the Tate, the Royal Opera House, Glyndebourne and Garsington and for The Art Fund and The Arts Society. Gavin also appears frequently on BBC Radio 3 and Radio 4, often speaking about Vienna at the turn of the last century.
